Condition (used): very good & fair/barely fair for age in (see below) - sadly the two candlesticks both have very slight damage to rose decoration, otherwise very minor marks commensurate with age and use.
Identifying marks or labels etc: "PMP Made In GDR Handpainted" we can't make out the gilt signature, in addition the candlesticks each have a number "13" & "14".
Other information: interesting and decorative item - "Established at Plaue in 1816 by two Heuacker brothers who partnered with Christian Schierholtz in 1817, the company became solely owned by Schierholtz a year later. Since then, a series of associated names and marks including C.G. Schierholtz & Son, Von Schierholtz Porcelain Factory and Plaue Porcelain Manufactory were used to identify the company's wares. Located near Dresden, the Schierholtz factory produced hand-painted table settings, candelabras, vases, bowls, compotes, baskets and figurines, many with fragile hand moulded, applied floral decoration. Renowned for a series of popular 1890s character steins now considered highly collectible, the company had showrooms in Germany, Austria, France and England until World War I. Following World War II, Plaue became part of East Germany and in 1973, a year after the Schierholtz factory was nationalized and renamed Porcelain Manufactory Plaue by the German Democratic Republic.
